Martis Camp: Where do big kids go to camp if they want to take their family with them?
If nature, ecology and all the amenities are important, Martis Camp would probably top the list. Beautifully situated in Martis Valley, and adjacent to the private golf community Lahontan, Martis Camp is made up of more than 2,100 acres of pristine forest and open meadows. There are approx. 650 home sites ranging from 1.2 to 5 acres with mountain and meadow views. Cottage style units of approx. 3,000 sq. ft. also planned at Martis Camp. Lahontan
Lahontan lies on the north side of Brockway summit nestled among 880 acres of Martis Valley’s pristine beauty. The private gated golf community features stunning craftsman style architecture and parcels that range in size from .3 acres to 1 acre. Taking advantage of the natural surroundings, the Tom Weiskopf designed 18-hole golf course and 9-hole par 3-course interweaves with the wetlands, lakes and lovely views. The golf membership provides golf cars, choice of reserved tee times and tennis court play, and also the club facility itself.
Camp Lahontan is a fantastic amenity that provides 4 season enjoyment- from swimming pools, tennis and outdoor volleyball courts, locker rooms and access to a vast network of hiking and biking trails that double as cross country grounds when the snow is flying. The Lodge and golf shop features a lounge for après-golf relaxation and a golf shop. The spa and fitness center is a great amenity for those looking to unwind in the swimming pools, saunas, and gym. Donner Summit
Donner Summit/ Serene Lakes: Perched atop the Donner Summit are the Serene Lakes and Soda Springs communities. Truly a sports enthusiasts dream location –near many ski areas including Sugar Bowl, Boreal, Donner Ski Ranch, and the world famous Royal Gorge cross country grounds. Many of the Serene Lakes and Soda Springs properties offer views, privacy, and lots of snow! This area is a perfect refuge from the busy world below, and truly encompasses the “old Tahoe” feel.
Serene Lakes is part of the North Tahoe area that is located in the northern Sierra Nevada mountain range in California, quietly nestled in the heart of Donner Summit. It is approximately one mile south of the town of Soda Springs and Interstate Highway 80. Access to the area is a two lane paved road that is maintained by Placer County. The County, including snow removal, on a year-round basis maintains all paved roads within the Serene Lakes development. Serene Lakes consists of approximately 2,400 acres. There are approximately 1000 residential lots in the development with 700 private homes built. Most homes are “second” (vacation) homes; though several are year-round residences. The Serene Lakes themselves form the focal point of the development. They are spring fed Lakes of about 50 acres each, and are joined by an isthmus. The surrounding forested region has many lakes, streams, meadows, trails, paths, campgrounds, all season resorts, and recreational activities. Serene Lakes is commonly known as the “Sierra’s best kept secret,” because of it’s natural resources and unique extremely quiet location.
Donner Lake
Donner Lake: A true jewel of the Sierras, Donner Lake is a clear, shiningly blue, pristine alpine lake with wonderful recreational opportunities year-round. Summertime offers temperate, sunny, blue sky days, with wonderful fishing, boating, and water sports, plus access to the backcountry for hiking and mountain biking.
The West End beach is a great place for a family picnic and a day in the sun: with an inviting sandy beach, a playground, and the cool, inviting lake for swimming and splashing. There are also many public docks that are a favorite for fishing, picnicking, and basking in the mountain sunshine. Additionally, the Donner Lake Property Owners’ Beach Club provides members with access to a private beach. In winter, Donner Lake transforms into a winter wonderland, with great access to 4 major ski areas: Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Northstar, and Sugar Bowl just minutes away. Donner Lake is a beautiful area and famous for its history of the Donner Party where you can find more information at the museum at the Donner Memorial State Park.
Prosser
Prosser Lakeview Estates is located just a few miles from Downtown Truckee to the north. It is nestled in the trees and surrounded by National Forest. There is no home owners association or amenities. Just a short distance to Prosser Reservoir, it’s the perfect place for recreation “out your back door”. Prosser Reservoir is very popular for fishing, hiking, mountain biking, camping, snowmobiling, & snowshoeing. Up until recently, Prosser Lakeview Estates was predominantly full time residences, but now is becoming a favorite for second home owners as well.
