|Trails and Vistas
Trails and Vistas art hike heads to Squaw Valley for an interactive experience on September 11 & 12, 2010.
Our next hike will take place Saturday, September 18 at 9am at the Loch Leven Trailhead.
From Interstate 80, take the Big Bend exit (1-1/2 miles east of Cisco Grove and 6 miles west of the Soda Springs exit). From the exit ramp, follow old Highway 40 for 0.9 mile to the plowed parking area on the north side of the road. A Forest Service block building with a pit toilet is at the west end of the parking area. (Rainbow lodge is a quarter mile east of the trailhead).
We had a stunning hike along Tunnel Creek, with amazing views of Lake Tahoe. These hikes are open to the public if you would like to join next month.
Stocks are up 50 percent from the March 2009 bottom. Some commodities have risen dramatically. The only asset class left in the cellar is real estate, says Michael Murphy, editor of the New World Investor stock newsletter.
As a result, Murphy is advising investors to buy now for these three reasons:
• Desperate sellers: Both home owners and lenders are eager to unload a flood of foreclosed and underwater properties. Buyers with the patience to push through these complex deals can save a bundle.
• Little competition. Because most people don’t have what it takes to negotiate their way through short sales and REOs, patient investors are winners.
• Low rates. Mortgage rates are at their lowest level in 40 years. If you believe inflation is inevitable, lock in now.
The Richardson House is a magnificently restored Victorian home located in the high Sierra town of Truckee, California. Built in the 1880s when Truckee was a Wild West railroad town, the home was situated on a hill above town by a wealthy businessman. Today, the home remains the centerpiece of Truckee as it overlooks the historic downtown and the Truckee River. Trains still pass through this once bustling railroad town, stirring echoes of a time that is sure to excite the imagination.
Lavishly resplendent, a stay at The Richardson House combines history and elegant luxury with modern amenities. No details were missed in the meticulous restoration of the grand home, whose antique furnishings, fixtures, Victorian textures and rich, inviting hues engage the senses at every turn.
Each of the home’s seven private rooms have their own distinct character and are designed to provide historical ambiance, luxury and comfort.
