That is the million dollar question these days…
This graph shows an example of a $350,000 home in 2006. At a depreciating value of 10% per year, this property has declined to approximately $212,000 in 2011. That is approximately a 40% loss in value over the last 6 years.
For the purpose of this example we will assume that 2011 is the bottom of the market even though last year’s loss was 12%. In 2011 we will hopefully be close to the bottom and then we expect to see a couple years of zero appreciation.
