Meet at 9 a.m. at the Peter Grubb Hut Trail Head(known as the ‘Castle Peak Trail Head’) on Saturday, August 16, 2014.

Directions: From Truckee take the Boreal exit off I-80.

Join us July 19, 2014 at 9am to hike Loch Levon Lakes.

Directions:
From Interstate 80, take the Big Bend exit (1-1/2 miles east of Cisco Grove and 6 miles west of the Soda Springs exit). From the exit ramp, follow old Highway 40 for 0.9 mile to the plowed parking area on the north side of the road. A Forest Service block building with a pit toilet is at the west end of the parking area. (Rainbow lodge is a quarter mile east of the trail head)

Each of the three lakes possess its own unique charm. The open terrain near the beginning of the trip & around the lakes periodically provides fine views of the surrounding countryside.

Distance: about 5 mi. round trip

Join us June 21, 2014 at 9am to hike Shirley Canyon.

Directions from Truckee:

Take HWY 89 between Truckee and Tahoe City. Turn at the Squaw Valley turn off which is well marked. Follow the road “Squaw Peak Road” up to the resort area. Look for the fire station on the right and we will meet right in front of the fire station for your convenience and than go and park at the actual trail head. The trail follows Shirley Creek up about 2.5 miles to Shirley Lake passing gorgeous waterfalls and canyon boulders.
